Guide to great practice

5 secrets to practicing like the pros.

  • Goals with a purpose

Create goals with a clear purpose to give focus to your practice sessions. Having a clear picture of what you want to achieve like ‘striking out of the middle of the putter’ over ‘practice putting’, will help to develop the skills that you need to shoot lower scores.

  • Be accountable for your time

Taking accountability for your practice sessions is so important for your development. A great way to do this is with a practice buddy to make su.e yoA stay on track at the range. Also, providing feedback to your coach via a training journal can be a great help to.

  • it can be a Bumpy Road

Remember progress isn’t always linear, you won’t always see direct score improvement from every session. This can be frustrating, but you can learn more from failure than success, so stick with and embrace the chaos of learning.

  • Is it all in the mind?

Jack Nicklaus said “The game of golf is 90% mental and 10% physical.” Learning to deal with the pressures, distractions and frustrations that you feel during a round can be the key to a successful round. Your Coach can help you with psychological techniques to help counter these feelings.

  • Celebrate good times

Remember to reward your accomplishments. Gamify your practice sessions with a partner to compete against or maybe give yourself a time constraint, if successful reward yourself, and if not maybe there is a consequence to face, just make sire it’s fun!
